Private Motor Vehicle Concessions Cut

The private vehicle rebate has been cut costings household an average of $72 per car



26 Aug 2014 - The Barnett Government has abolished the private vehicle rebate for car registrations. All vehicles will now be charged at the same rates irrespective of whether they are used privately or for commercial purposes..

The abolition of the private vehicle rebate in the 2014-15 State Budget follows the having of the rebate in the 2013-14 Budget.  It was $72 per vehicle before it was halved to $36 and then finally abolished. 

Increases to car licence fees may vary and depending on vehicle type.  For seniors the impact may mean an increase of over 200 per cent in some licence fees.

For an average six cylinder vehicle, the 2014-15 registration fee has increased from $510.38 to $582.90.

Motor Vehicle registration fees have increased by 62% under the Liberal Government.
